According to the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the entrance fee to Angkor Archeological sites has been approved to increase up to USD72/ticket. This decision is due to be implemented from February 1st 2017. At the present time, there are three kinds of ticket to the sites, including one day, three days, and seven days, and they have been officially modified as below:
1. One-day entrance ticket fee: USD37/ticket
2. Three-day entrance ticket fee: USD62/ticket (Valid for ten days)
3. Seven-day entrance ticket fee: USD72/ticket (Valid for one month)
On August 10th 2016, the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia publicly informed all travel agents, tour operators, relevant organizations, and international tourists about this modification. Furthermore, in the news release, the Ministry also notifies the public that USD2 included in each of the tickets are for the charitable fund of Kantha Bopha Hospital.
Perhaps, the name “Kantha Bopha” means nothing to lots of international tourists, but it is actually the essential place for the future generations of Cambodian people. Kantha Bopha, established by Beat Richner – a Swiss doctor is a charitable hospital where all children will be treated and cured for free. With the poor medical services of Cambodia, Kantha Bopha is regarded as the extremely meaningful gift to this country’s residents. Nowadays, the hospital has expanded its operation over Phnom Penh and Siem Reap to provide the good treatment for more children. According to some statistics, each hospital branch requires 17 million US dollars to smooth its operation each year (of course, the more branches there are, the larger the amount is). From 1991, the year of establishing the hospital until now, the Kantha Bopha charitable foundation has received 370 million US dollars primarily from Swiss benefactors.
Angkor Archeological Sites are widely known by international visitors as an outstanding travel destination where there are ancient architectural structures, such as Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and many other unique temples. The majority of experienced tourists said that setting foot in Cambodia without visiting Angkor, you are supposed not to have still arrived in this country yet. Angkor is so fantastic that there is no word to demonstrate its true beauty; the trip to this spot will enable you to contemplate religious temples in extremely irrepressible and splendid styles. That is the reason why it was designated as a world heritage site by UNESCO.
